Frequently Asked Questions
... and answers.Do you see same day emergencies?
Yes we do. We will always do the best we can to work you into our schedule in the case of a dental emergency.
Do you accept Badger Care?
We are not accepting patients on Badger Care at this time. Unfortunately the rate of government reimbursement back to the dentist for treatment is so low that it makes it impossible for us to treat patients on Badger Care.
I don't have dental insurance. What financing options do you have available?
We do offer CareCredit®. This is a line of credit to be used for necessary treatments that are not covered by insurance, or for those individuals that have no dental insurance. It’s a great way to get the best treatment now, and to pay for the service over a period of time, interest free. Please call and ask if you have further questions on this.
Do you offer cash discounts?
If you do not have dental insurance, we do offer a 5% discount for paying the same day of treatment.
I am looking to switch to you for my new dentist. What do I need to do to get my dental records transferred?
This can be handled one of 2 ways. You can call us to set up an appointment, and we can contact your previous dentist on your behalf; or you can call your previous provider and tell them you’d like your records transferred. We are most interested in when your last checkup was, and if they have any current xrays that could be transferred instead of repeated at our office.
At what age should I bring my child to the dentist?
The American Dental Association recommends that each child be seen by a dentist by age 1, or 6 months after his/her first tooth erupts. It is important for each child to establish a dental home for their routine dental care, much like having well baby checkups with your family physician. At this visit we can discuss good oral hygiene habits, diet, potential need for supplemental fluoride, among other things. While age 1 is the current standard of care, the most common age for parents bringing their child for a first dental visit at our office is age 3.
Can I be in the exam room with my child?
Absolutely. Most really young children are most comfortable with one of their parents in the room. If we have an issue with cooperation, we may kindly ask that you leave the room in an attempt to regain the child’s focus so the treatment can be completed in the safest, most efficient manner possible. However, if you are uncomfortable with this and would prefer to stay, we leave that up to you. We love seeing kids in our office, and make every effort to ensure their visit to the dentist is an enjoyable experience.
What are sealants? How will I know if my child should have sealants?
Sealants are a protective coating applied to the chewing surface of the tooth to prevent decay in the deep pits and grooves of the teeth, where cleaning is difficult. Sealants are most commonly recommended when your child’s first and second permanent molars are fully erupted through the gum tissue. This usually occurs around age 6 and again around age 12. We will examine the teeth at every 6 month checkup appointment, and we will let you know when the timing would be appropriate to place sealants on your child’s teeth.
Do you offer braces for children or adults at your office?
No we do not provide orthodontic treatment to our patients. We are very lucky to have highly skilled orthodontic specialists in this area, so will refer you to one of our local orthodontists where you can get the best care when it comes to aligning the teeth and jaws.
Do you offer in-office whitening, or "ZOOM" whitening?
No we do not. Our preferred method of tooth whitening is accomplished by making you custom fit trays that you can wear in the comfort of your own home. We send you home with the trays and syringes of professional bleaching gel, and instruct you on the proper use of this whitening system. If you are bleaching your teeth for the first time or are unsure of how your teeth will respond to the bleaching gel, we have a less expensive option that consists of a set of 10 upper and lower disposable trays. These are similar to other over-the-counter whitening strips, but are professional grade. They have a custom fit feel, professional strength bleaching gel for a quicker, more even result, and built in desensitizers to prevent cold sensitivity while whitening. If you have further questions on these two options, don’t hesitate to give us a call.
Do you offer same day crowns in your office?
Yes, we do!
We have a CEREC machine which allows us to make same day crowns and take digital impressions. No more waiting 2 weeks for the permanent crown to come back from the lab!
